What is the best law firm marketing agency in Los Angeles?

There is no Los Angeles legal market. There are forty of them, and the agencies that treat it as one metro lose money on your behalf.

Short answer

What is the best law firm marketing agency in Los Angeles? The one that targets your submarket rather than “Los Angeles” — the metro is too large and too fragmented for a single campaign, and proximity means a Santa Monica firm does not rank in Pasadena.

A firm in Encino and a firm in Long Beach are 35 miles and two hours apart. Google treats them as different markets because clients do.

  • Published pricing — $2,500, $3,500 and $4,500 a month, on the site.
  • Month to month. No contract is holding you anywhere.
  • A former attorney of 17 years who filed 5,000+ cases works your account.
  • You see your rankings move for 14 days before you are billed a dollar.
  • Law firms only — no other industries, ever.

Forty Markets, Not One

Los Angeles County covers roughly 4,750 square miles and about ten million people. Calling it a market is like calling the eastern seaboard a market.

A client in Lancaster is not going to drive to Torrance. A Santa Monica firm and a Whittier firm are not competitors in any practical sense. And a campaign targeting “Los Angeles” is bidding on searchers across a county where the drive between two points can take two hours.

The practical units are the submarkets people actually identify with and travel within: the Westside, the South Bay, the San Fernando Valley, the San Gabriel Valley, Downtown, Long Beach and the harbour area, the Eastside, the Antelope Valley. A firm sits in one, perhaps two.

⚠ What “Target Los Angeles” Actually Buys
  • Clicks from people 40 miles away who will not retain you, at Los Angeles prices.
  • A keyword you cannot win. “Los Angeles” plus a practice area is contested by firms with large budgets and long histories, and winning it does not help if your actual catchment is the Valley.
  • Diluted local signals. Chasing county-wide relevance works against the proximity signals that would rank you where your clients are.

Why Proximity Caps You

Local search results are driven substantially by the searcher's distance from the business, which has a specific consequence most firms have never been told: there is a ceiling on how far your Map Pack visibility extends, and no amount of spending moves it.

A firm with one office in Sherman Oaks can rank strongly for searches in Sherman Oaks and the surrounding few miles, weakly at ten miles, and essentially not at all in Long Beach. That is not a quality problem. It is geometry.

Three things follow. Organic and paid can reach beyond your proximity radius, which is where county-wide ambition legitimately belongs. A second office genuinely extends local reach, but it has to be a real staffed location, not a mailbox — Google's guidelines are explicit and the penalties for fake locations are real. And a service-area designation is not the same as a location: it affects how you are displayed, not how far your proximity advantage reaches.

Submarket and Courthouse Targeting

The strategy that works in LA is narrower than firms expect and produces better economics.

  1. Target the neighbourhood and the adjacent ones. Sherman Oaks, Encino, Van Nuys, Studio City — not “Los Angeles”. Lower volume, far lower cost, and the searchers can actually get to you.
  2. Use the courthouse as a geography. For litigation practices this is underused and powerful. People search for a lawyer near the courthouse where their matter sits — Van Nuys, Stanley Mosk, Pomona, Long Beach, Torrance, Compton, Inglewood, Pasadena. Each has a catchment and a search pattern, and almost nobody builds pages for them.
  3. Build real submarket pages. Not the same page with the city name swapped. What is genuinely different about practising in that area — which courthouse, which demographics, which local issues — or the page should not exist. Thin location pages multiplied across LA's dozens of cities is the fastest way to a scaled-content problem.
  4. Let organic carry the wider ambition. Content on practice-area questions ranks county-wide and beyond without fighting the proximity constraint.

From 17 Years of Practice

I ran a bankruptcy practice from 9454 Wilshire for seventeen years, filing over 5,000 cases, and I did its marketing myself. Almost everything that worked was within about a fifteen-mile radius. The money I spent trying to reach the whole county was the money I wasted.

Spanish-Language Search Is a Channel, Not a Translation

Los Angeles County has one of the largest Spanish-speaking populations in the country, and in several practice areas — immigration, workers' compensation, personal injury, family law, criminal defence — a substantial share of demand searches in Spanish.

Running the English site through machine translation underperforms badly. Search behaviour differs in phrasing and in which questions get asked, so keyword research has to be done natively. Reviews in Spanish do disproportionate work. And intake has to match: ranking in a language nobody at the firm can answer the phone in produces frustration rather than clients.

An agency in this market that does not raise this is not paying attention to the market.

What Los Angeles Costs

LA is among the most expensive legal advertising markets in the United States, and the numbers shape what is viable.

Competitive personal injury clicks run well above the national range — $50 and considerably higher on the highest-intent terms. Criminal defence and DUI are expensive. Family law is contested across every submarket. Even estate planning, which is cheap in most of the country, carries real competition here.

Which pushes the strategy toward the cheap channels harder than it would elsewhere: the Google Business Profile, submarket organic content, courthouse pages, and Spanish-language search where relevant. For a solo or small firm in this metro, paid search as a primary channel is frequently not affordable, and an agency that proposes it without discussing the cost per signed case is not doing the arithmetic.

Attorney Pro Marketing is based at 9454 Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills — and works with attorneys nationwide, so the local knowledge is first-hand rather than researched. The work is done by Alon Darvish, who practised in this market for 17 years and filed over 5,000 cases from this building, and who marketed that practice himself to 40–50 new cases a month.

Programme-wise: Google Business Profile work on every tier from $2,500, with submarket and courthouse content at Growth ($3,500) and location pages plus multi-location profiles at Dominate ($4,500). Published pricing, advertising billed to your firm directly by Google, month to month with 30 days' notice, and rankings recorded on day 0 against up to 30 keywords of your choosing with the movement reported on day 14 before you are billed for that period.

See it before you pay for it.

We snapshot your rankings on day 0, build and launch your site within three days, and show you the movement on day 14. If it has not moved enough to be worth continuing, you owe nothing for that period and you keep the Google Business Profile work.

Usually not. LA County covers roughly 4,750 square miles and ten million people, and local rankings are driven substantially by the searcher's proximity — so a campaign targeting the county buys clicks from people forty miles away at LA prices, on a keyword contested by firms with much larger budgets.

A few miles strongly, ten miles weakly, and effectively not at all across the county — that is geometry rather than a quality problem, and no amount of spending moves it. Organic and paid search can reach further, which is where county-wide ambition legitimately belongs.

Submarket and courthouse targeting. Target your neighbourhood and the adjacent ones rather than the county, and for litigation practices build pages around the courthouse where matters sit — Van Nuys, Stanley Mosk, Pomona, Long Beach, Torrance — each of which has its own catchment and search pattern that almost nobody builds for.

Substantial in immigration, workers' compensation, personal injury, family law and criminal defence. It requires native keyword research rather than machine translation, since phrasing and the questions asked differ, plus reviews in Spanish and someone at the firm who can answer those calls.
